And when it rains...

Being a farmer's daughter and all... when it doesn't rain for more than a month at a time, I get concerned. NO, I'm not your typical farmer's daughter who spends her time milking the cows and out in the fields, but I still genuinely care about it (some might argue that, but it's the truth).

Anyway, so a couple weeks ago when it F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. decided to rain (even for just a few minutes) I celebrated by taking my sister out for a photo shoot. Okay, I had to beg and plead for a few minutes, but it gave her a great excuse to dress up and look all cutesie for a night.

Part of me just simply wanted to take pictures, but another part of me also wanted to try out this bad boy. Is it mine, you ask? DID YOU SEE THAT PRICE TAG?! Of course it isn't mine. And how am I taking pictures with it? By renting it, of course! I owe a lot of my photography credit to a wonderful little gem of a business called borrowlenses.com. They are great to work with and I've even worked with them so much that they have started giving me free extra days when I rent lenses! This is the second time I rented this particular lens for a wedding. The first time, I realized that even though it gives some of the MOST incredible pictures on earth, it's not very practical for anything other than portrait shots. However, I decided to give it another try and fell in love with it again. (I was kicking and screaming when I had to send it back today... note to self, stop wasting money on RENTING when you could just save up for a while and BUY one...easier said than done).

Little Lou.
Funny, gorgeous, thoughtful, caring... all-around fabulous.

And I get to call her my sister.
Reason #2654 why I'm blessed.

Delbert + Andee Wedding continued

Andee & I have been known each other since the 4th grade, and have been good friends since at least middle school. When she asked me to do her wedding, I was more than thrilled for several reasons.
I knew Andee would have one of the most creative and beautiful weddings, and she did. Andee & Delbert make a very attractive couple (ahem, see photos). I've also watched their relationship flourish for over 5 years. I've seen their loyalty to each other. I've seen how much they love each other. Their relationship has truly withstood the test of time. Also, Andee has been a great friend to me throughout the years--we have many, many great memories together and I loved being apart of their day.

To give you an idea of how beautiful their day was (and not JUST because of the decorations) I'll give you an excerpt from my sister's blog (she helped me second shoot this wedding):

"I LOVE WEDDINGS... I just do...I can't help it from the flowers...to the groom's priceless look when he first sees his bride...I just love it all. Sometimes I just wish I could skip the whole dating part and get married and be married... Wish it were that simple. This happens to me every time I go to a wedding and it's all I can think about. The reason I am talking about weddings is because I was at a wedding on Saturday. Actually, I helped take pictures of the wedding with my sister. The bride was stunning and the groom thought so, too. It was the cutest thing in the world. They were each others' first loves and had been dating for about 5 years. HOW precious? Anyway, everything was so simple yet so personal from the ceremony to the reception. In fact, at one point I started crying. I don't cry much, so this was a big deal. I wish I had a picture to show the adorableness of this couple..."

Well, fortunately I do have a picture (and a few more) of them... Kait summed it up pretty well. Simple and personal, yet so beautiful. They got married in their church and had the reception in an old barn. Perfection. It was such an enjoyable day for me as a photographer. It can typically be somewhat stressful taking pictures, but everyone was so calm and relaxed. Thank you Andee &Del for an amazing day!

Yeah, she was stunning.

One of my favorites.

And there are many more that I will probably be posting soon from the ceremony and reception!
Congratulations to the wonderful couple.
Thank you again for inviting me to be apart of your incredible day.
